I recently purchased a Brother HLW printer and configured it for wireless so that I can print from both my desktop and notebook. These are old problems that I just found solution. Hi, Go to system settings and select the ‘Printer’ option. Maintaining updated Brother HLW software prevents crashes and maximizes hardware and system performance. Why not let it sleep? Hi, Go to system settings and select the ‘Printer’ option. However, on my laptop, it is perennially in sleep mode and I have to go into BR Admin to change the command from Sleep to Ready.
Painstakingly tedious, but it worked. This drives me nuts.

All to no avail. Wny won’t it wake up automatically like the desktop printer does?

Brother HL-2170W always in sleep mode-how do I wake it up?
Cancel all the printing jobs till that moment and redo the process. Sounds like a bug in their driver. I’m sure this info was not detailed enough for some and too detailed for others, but hopefully it’ll help to know hl-2170e IS possible to solve this problem in less than 30 minutes. Otherwise this is a big waste of money. Wireless Laser Printer Brother. Using outdated or corrupt Brother HLW drivers can cause system errors, crashes, and cause your computer or hardware to fail. I kept trying to pair my printer with my wireless router using the WPS button, but it was never going to work. I have the same question I have to shut it down and power it back up.
I kept uninstalling and reinstalling the printer software, but it never worked because the network had to find the printer FIRST, and then I needed to re- install the software. I want to make it go to sleep faster. Thanks very much to anyone who can shed light on this.
I then rebooted my PC, then downloaded and reinstalled the software from Brother’s website. I tried all of the suggestions here beother that Brother Support offered.
